•If you could look “inside” your telephone system, j ;
would see thet it takes a lot of things to make your tele
phone work. First, the highly skilled technicians and
L operators. Then the vast amount of incredibly compli
cated switchboards, wire, poles, etc. Much of this equip
ment is still scarce and will take time to produce. We can
not reach our goal of faster, better service—with enough
for everybody—until we do receive sufficient equipment.

747.50, F bonds $530,184.00, G bonds
$2,282,300.00, total sales $8,427,231.60.
The county chairman further stat
ed that according to information he
had received from the State office,
citizens of North Carolina had invest
ed more money in E bonds as well as
in the combined series E, F and G
bonds, in December, than in any pre
vious month of 1946. He stated that
in his opinion the tremendous publi
city promotional campaign of Novem
ber 11 to December 7 had a large in
fluence on the increased sales of De
cember over any previous month of
1946 by again bringing to the atten
tion of our citizens the importance
and advantages of investing in U. S.
Savings Bonds—the world’s safest in
vestment.
Mr. Byrum expressed thanks and
appreciation to all in Chowan County
who have contributed to the success
of the savings bonds program during
1946 and earnestly solicits their con
tinued cooperation and support in
1947. He predicted a bright outlook
for the 1947 savings bonds program.
