Elisha Buike White, 09, of Center ! Hill, died- Monday morning in Leigh | M emorial Hospital in Norfolk as the I ) result of cerebral hemorrhage. He had been in failing health for three years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Lane White: four daughters. Miss Lucy Myers White of Norfolk. Mrs. ' Robert Eure of Suffolk, Miss Eliza-, beth White of Guilford, X. C., and J Mrs. Hallett Everett of Plymouth, and a son, E B. C., THURSDAY JANUARY 30, 1947. Charles Thomas Baker Dies At Merry Hill Charles Thomas Baker, 73, died at his home at Merry Hill Monday morning January 20, after several months of illness. Funeral services were conducted at Merry Hill Baptist Church, of which he was a member, at 2:30 o’clock Tuesday by the Rev. W. H. Hollocvell, assisted by the Rev. E. R. Stewart of Windsor and S. A. Adams of Merry Hill. Burial fol lowed in Capeharts churchyard. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs, llettie Baker of Merry Hill, and six daughters, Mrs. R. L. Rhea and Mrs. Lawrence Adams of Franklin, Va.,, Mrs. Viola Cowand of Merry Hill,! Mrs. C. Lee Wnmmack of Scotland | Neck, Mrs. I). P. Mizell of Edenton and Mrs. C. F. Hoole of Norfolk, one brother, Gilbert Baker of Norfolk, one sister Mrs. E. B. Cofield of Merry Hill, 17 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Acting pallbearers were: Messrs Lloyd, Martin and Clarence Cobb, Herman Tarl* Butler Williams and Walter Brown. Flower girls were nieces and granddaughters of the de ceased. METHODIST SERVICES Preaching sendees will be held in the Methodist Church Sunday- morn ing at 11 o’clock, when the pastor, the Rev-. H. F. Surratt, will preach on the subject, “The Stewardship of Time.” At the conclusion of the ser vice the Holy- Communion will be ob served. Church School will be held at 9:45 Sunday morning and the Youth Fellowship meeting at 6:30 Sunday- evening.
