Mr. Brown was 1 well pleased with this project in' Chowan County, and stated that the chickens were better than in most counties. The prizes were sls for blue, $lO for red, and $5 for white. The putting of two and two together on a blackboard is followed by putting two and two together in the market place. History may be studied, but its significance is realized only as life translates it. IN MEMORIAM In loving memory of my brother, I who passed away one year ago today, November 7: Sad and sudden was the call Os one so dearly loved by all. Your memory is as sweet today As in the hour you passed away. We often sit and think of you, Think of how you died, To think you couldn’t say good-bye Before you closed your eyes. The blow was hard, the shock severe, We never thought death so near, But only those who have lost can tell The pain of parting without farewell. God knew your load was heavy Though you never complained. So He took you home to Heaven Where there is no grief or pain. Gone but not forgotten. —Mrs. Will Spruill and Children.
