PAGE TWO VfW Buys Lot To Build Future Home Post Purchased Lot Last Week From Marvin Jackson Members of the William H. Cof field, Jr., Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, have taken the initial step in anticipation of a permanent home for the Post. Like a number of other Edenton organizations, the Post has no home, so that a lot has been pur chased upon which it is hoped to build a home in the near future. The Post last week purchased a lot from Marvin Jackson which is lo cated between Mr. Jackson’s home and the spur track of the Norfolk Southern Railroad. It is planned to erect a Quonset hut type of building which will provide adequate room as the future VFW home. A committee is already at work, planning ways and means to raise necessary funds to erect the building. Halloween Carnival At Chowan Friday Night A Hallowe’en Carnival is planned by the Chowan High School, which will be held Friday night, October 29, at 7:30 o’clock. A king and queen will be chosen from the grammar grades and the high school. A prize will be given for the one who is dressed in the best costume. Ice cream, candy, peanuts, hot dogs and drinks will be sold, while the en tertainment includes fortune telling, side show's, fishing pond and ghost house. An effort is being made to stage an affair to be enjoyed by the children as well as grown-ups, many of whom en joyed last yekr’s carnival as much as did the children. Everyone is invited to attend the entertainment. Loafing becomes respectable when the doctor tells you it is necessary. |l S^^LEy"! SRESERVE Blended .Whiskey 86JJjwof.
