Tolley of Selma, former Edenton patrolman, left for his home Wednesday after spending two days of a vacation vis iting in Edenton. Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Hollowell spent Sunday in Norfolk, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Sam Luck. Otis Winborne of Goldsboro was a guest of D. B. Liles last week. Miss Kate Aydlett of Elizabeth City visited her brother and sister-in law, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Wood, Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Gaskins and daughter, Faye, of Norfolk, spent the Thanksgiving holidays with Mrs. Lil lie B. Parks. Harold Clay of Detroit, Mich, has returned to the Colony Inn after spending a month in Florida. Ralph Leary has returned to his' hojne in New Jersey after spending a week with his mother, Mrs. Jack Leary. i Mrs. Laurie Remington of Winston- 1 Salem returned to her home last week - after visiting her sister and brother in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Forehand and Miss Mamie Thomas Hogg. Bufflap was born in York, t Pennsylvania, and after a most active life-as an iron worker throughout the ( eastern part of the Keystone State, retired at the age of 78. He was married to Anna Mary Spangler, who passed on 33 years ago. Four chil- I dren, three boys and one girl, are still , living. J. Edwin Bufflap, editor of The Chowan Herald, is the eldest and mighty proud offspring of this most , active American. Charles H. Bufflap has made many friends in Edenton and Chowan Coun | ty. Mrs Cox only a short time before, left the home of her stepmother, Mrs. W. E. Hassell, to drive to Washington, D. C., to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with her daughter, Mrs. Edwin A. Weihe. Mrs. Cox’s car for some reason left the highway and in an effort to turn back on the road, her car skidded and crashed into a truck coming in the op posite direction. Mrs. Cox was appar ently instantly killed and the car j completely demolished. The driver of the truck was only slightly injured and proceeded with his work shortly after the accident Mrs. Cox, 63, was a native of Eden ton and the widow of the late E.
