Christmas Sea! Sale Beats All Records Mrs. R. C. Holland Ap preciates Help of All Who Took Part Mrs. R. C. Holland, treasurer of the Chowan County Christmas Seal ■ale, reported this week that contri butions have eclipsed all previous years, and that the amount received by her as the result of the cam paign totals over $1,500. Mrs. Holland is-delighted with the success of the drive and was high in praise of those who were responsible for the splendid showing. Especially did she give credit to Mrs. C. E., Kramer, Ralph E. Parrish, the Junior Woman’s Club, the colored Woman’s Club, as well as the many citizens who were so generous in their con tributions. John E. Dail Dies At Home Friday John E. Dail, 76, died at his home in the Cisco section at 2 o’clock Fri day morning following an illness of two months. He was a native of Chowan County and a prominent farmer. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Aure lia B. Dail; one son, J. C. Dail of Ridgfield, Washington; seven daugh ters, Mrs. W. O. Byrum of Gates, Mrs. B. F. Byrum of Corapeake, Mrs. H. J. Gardner of Suffolk, Mrs. Vandy Nixon, Mrs. Fred Tunstall and Mrs. Earl Bunch of Edenton and Mrs. Elmo James of Elizabeth City; one brother, S. L. Dail of Elizabeth City and 28 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the home. The Rev. W. C. Francis, pas tor of the Center Hill Baptist Church, of which deceased was a member, of ficiated. Interment was made in the family burying ground. Active pallbearers were Baker By rum, Jarvis Byrum, Carroll Wilbur Byrum, Elbert Byrum, Winifred By rum, Roger Byrum, Rufus By-rum and Thomas Mathias. Honorary pallbearers were Lee Leary, Horace Copeland, Louis Leary, Alfred Perry, Curtis Leary, Coke Nixon, Eugene Perry, Fred White, Jim Asbell, Clyde Privott, Kenneth Copeland and Sam Nixon. MASSES NEXT SUNDAY IN WINDSOR AND EDENTON The Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered Sunday, Febru ary 13, at 8 A. M. in Duke of Wind sor. Hotel convention room, Windsor, and in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Edenton, at 11 A. M., each including sermon on “Necessity of Earnest ness,” Holy Communion, concluding in 45 minutes, followed by Sunday School, with confessions in Windsor 7:35 to 7:55 and in Edenton 10:30 to 10:55 A. M., stated Father F. J. Mc- Court, rector, who invites everybody to all services. Week-mornings’ Mass, Communion and Rosary in St. Ann’s.
