.Into Building
First Time In History
Local Tribe Owned
Own Hall
Chowan Tribe of Red Men on Mon
day night met in their own new home
on Broad Street next to the Broad
Street Fish Market, and the large
M number of members in attendance
| were delighted that for the first time
I in the history of .the tribe, it has a
home owned by the tribe.
The building some months ago was
4 purchased from Ernest Kehayes, and
was practically rebuilt from top to
bottom and an extension added at the
rear of the building. In the very
near future the Red Men plan to stage
a special meeting to dedicate the new
home and meeting place.
The lower floor has been leased to
R. S. Walraven.
| Vets’ Question Box
Q. —I wish to convert my National
Service Life Insurance. Do I get cre
dit for all the money I paid on my
term insurance ?
A.—No, because the premiums paid
on your term insurance were required
.to pay for the cost of the protection
1 ' afforded. If you convert now, you
ft* must pay the full premium required
V’ at your attained age for the convert
r ed insurance.
B Q. —I just received my NSLI policy
but I notice the beneficiary is not en-
V dorsed on it. Why is this?
\ A.—NSLI policies do not show the
{ beneficiary or the option chosen by
I the insured. When you designated
• your beneficiary the form you signed
was made part of your records. If
the designations were endorsed on
your policy, it would not necessarily
be accurate at a later date, since you
I can change your designation without
sending in your policy to be corrected.
Q. May I name anyone as bene
ficiary of my insurance?
A. —Yes. You may designate any
person or persons, firm, corporation
or other legal entity, including your
estate.
Q. I now have $5,000 National
Service Life Insurance in force. I did
have another $5,000 NSLI policy, but
A surrendered it for cash. May I apply
B for a new $5,000 NSLI policy to bring
P the total amount up to SIO,OOO, which
Itftl understand is the maximum cover
| i age obtainable?
A. No. NSLI surrendered for cash
||l may not be replaced. By surrender-
U ing your $5,000 NSLI policy you gave
Bmp your entitlement to that amount of
National Life Insurance.
Q. I have recently developed a
|L akin condition and would like to re
-11? ceive out-patient treatment by VA.
|k Is this possible?
A. Eligibility for out-patient treat
|L ment must be determined by VA. The
must be determined to have
BReen incurred ’in, or aggravated by,
HTactive military or naval service before
| Mout-patient treatment can be author-
Blzed.
Mb ' Q. What veterans are entitled to
automobiles from the Gov-
PPamment ?
F fag*. Veterans'who have suffered the
I; loss, or loss of use, of one or both
L fcleare as the result of a disability in-
K*nrred in active service during World
t teSVar II are entitled tb automobiles.
