BASEBALL (Continued From Page One- Edenton 2, Elizabeth City, 11 In a very one-sided game played Wednesday night of last week in Elizabeth City, the Senators defeated the Colonials 11-2. The Senators took an early lead by scoring three runs in each of the second and third innings and added . four runs in a big fifth inning. An , other runner crossed the plate in the . sixth. The Colonials scored a run in each of the sixth and seventh, and at no time during the game made any ser ious threat to overcome the Senators’ lead. Titus was on the mound for the Senators and had the situation well under control. He allowed only seven hits, with Parker and Pavlish mak ing two each. Titus also played a . leading role in the victory, for he hit a home run with two men on base. Although Manager Gashouse Park er used four pitchers the Senators 1 made only eight hits, but these blows came at a time when hits produced runs. Tysko started the game, with Herman, Andrewsh and Stocker fol lowing. Edenton 3, Elizabeth City 0 In one of the best played games ■ of the season the Colonials defeated the Elizabeth City Senators on Hicks Field Thursday night before a large crowd of fans 3-0. Both teams played errorless ball, coupled with spectacu lar playing on the part of both out fits, and a home run hit by Manager Gashouse Parker which was just about the fartherest hit ball ever seen on the local diamond. The ball ■ sailed high over the lights in left field. Price on the mound for Edenton, was in rare form and but for a single made by Black in the sixth inning, he would have registered a no-run, no-hit game. Weaver went the entire game on the mound for the Senators and gave up only seven hits. The Colonials opened their half of the first inning when Messina hit a double on the first ball pitched. Hoch then doubled scoring Messina. This ended the scoring , until the sixth when Bohonko singled and Parker hit his sensational home run after he was “roasted” by a large crowd of Elizabeth City fans on hand for the flAAcre the succeM ejf ifcur PEANUT HARVEST jj PERFORMANCE fjjjlifM! A peculiar feature of the game was the fact that each pitcher fan ned the other the three times they batted. Edenton 6, Colerain 4 Although the Colerain Trappers staged a rally in the ninth inning on Hicks Field Friday night, the Co lonials took the long end of a 6-4 score. Stanley Johnson started on the mound for the Colonials, the first time he has worked since an injury a few weeks ago. He apparently weakened and and was relieved in the seventh by Schadel.
