Athletic Association Organized AtC. H. S. Horace. Rountree Elect ed President of New Organization The Chowan High School student body has organized an Athletic As sociation. The purpose of this Asso ) oiation is to promote friendly atti | tudes, cooperation, and sportsmanship, \ also to raise money for various ath / letic activities. I The association elected the follow j ing officers: Horace Rountree, presi dent; Thomas Perry, vice-president; Dorothy Ann Asbell, secretary; Judy Hollowell, treasurer; and Madge Copeland and Horace Rountree, re porters The association will meet twice a . month and will try to better athletics at Chowan High School, i The association held its regular meeting Friday, October 21. At this ! meeting an advertising committee was ‘ elected. Those on the committee are: Malcolm Copeland, chairman; Madge Copeland and Bebe Evans, co-work ers. The president, Horace, appointed a committee to select cheer leaders. Those on the committee are: Billy and Ruth Rogerson, co-workers. The association has had a drink stand placed in the gym. The money received from this will be used for various things that the association will need at times. Only a small prof it is made but it helps a lot. Mrs. Alethia Nixon Dies At Rocky Hock Mrs. Aletha A. Nixon, 81, died at her home in Rocky Hock section at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning after an illness of ten days. A native of Per rquimans County, Mrs. Nixon lived in Chowan County for a number of years. She was the widow of the late William L. Nixon, and a member of the Evans Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. E. J. Goodwin of Edenton; four step sons, Sam Nixon of Colerain, Charles, Tot® and Robert Nixon of Edenton; a brother, Ephriam Forehand of Hert ford. Eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be hejd this |T. (Thursday) afternoon at the home at 2:20 o’clock. The Rev. E. R.
