Miss Susan Thigpen left Sunday for Macon, Ga., where she is a student in the Wesleyan Conservatory of Music, after spending the Thanks giving holidays visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Thigpen. Thomas Ward, stationed at Macon, Ga., in the U. S. Army, spent the Thanksgiving holidays visiting his paients, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Alec Brinkley of Portsmouth, stopped over to visit Miss Mamie Thomas Hogg while on their way to Florida. Miss Mamie Thomas Hogg spent the Thanksgiving holidays with Mrs. Belle W. Parker at her home near Tyner. Mrs. Belle W. Parker and Miss .Mamie Thomas Hogg spent Sunday in Suffolk visiting relatives and friends. C.H. S. Basketball Chowan High School girls defeated Sunbury on the latter’s court Novem ber 17 by a score of 33-15. On November 22 the girls played a local team and again won 26-4. Chowan boys were defeated in their first two games by Sunbury 25-11 and I by the Chowan locals 26-24. Sunbury and Chowan were sched uled to play on the Chowan court Tuesday night. Oglesby, died Sunday in Beaufort af ter suffering a stroke on Thanksgiv ing day. Mr. Oglesby lived in Eden ton for some time during the con struction of the Marine Air Station and made many friends while here. Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Oglesby were called to Beaufort after his brother became ill and returned on Sunday to attend the funeral services. Accom panying them at that time was anoth er brother, D. B. Oglesby and Mrs. Oglesby, a sister, Mrs. Margaret Bateman; all of Norfolk. Burial was made in Newport, N. C.
