Dail, 805 arrests were made in Edenton for the year January 1, 1949 to December 31. Drunks were far in the lead with 216, followed by 149 miscellaneous traffic violations, 103 miscellaneous arrests and 101 speeders. Reasons for other arrests were: Disorderly conduct, 56; assault, 91; driving intoxicated, 14; careless and reckless driving, 18; larceny, 31;_ whiskey violations, 9; indecent expos ure,’'6; carrying concealed weapons, 6; breaking and entering, 5. During the year police answered 860 catls, made 218 investigations, re covered $7,555.67 in stolen property and found 87 doors open. U. S. Treasurer Will Speak In High Point Mrs. Georgia Neese Clark, treasurer of the United States, will address the annual convention of the North Caro lina Hairdressers and Cosmetologist Association at the Hotel Sheraton in High Point, N. C., on February 7. The announcement was made by R. Ray Satterfield of Charlotte, con vention director, Satterfield said Mrs. Clark will speak at the closing ban quet session of the three-day meet ing opening Sunday, February 5. Appointed treasurer last June 21, Mrs. Clark succeeded William A. Jul ian and became the 29th treasurer and the first woman to hold the office. Mrs. Corbett Returns As Nurse After Illness Mrs. Corbett, R. N., of the Chowan Hospital Staff, has returned to her post of duty, after a week’s hospitili zation.
