Boy Scout Week will be observed
on a national basis February 6 to 12,
which will mark the 40th anniversary
of the incorporation of the Boy Scouts
of America. Indications are that
nearly 2,500,000 boys and adult lead
ers enrolled in the movement as of
December 1. Since 1910, more than
16,500,000 American boys and men
have been identified with the Boy

National Jamboree at historic Valley
Forge, Pa., where 40,000 will camp
together from June 30 to July 6.
In connection with the observance of
Boy Scout Week, Mayor Leroy Hss-
I kett this week made the following
proclamation:
Whereas, February 8, 1960 is the
40th anniversary of the founding of
. the Boy Scouts of America, chartered
* by the Congress of the United States,
as a program for all the hoys of
America, and
Whereas, the Boy Scout Program
has affected the lives of 16,580,000
1 American boys and men since 1910,
> and now has an active enrollment of
r 2,300,000 ad
, Whereas, the movement is engaged
, in a Crusade to “Strengthen the Arm
1 of Liberty” by giving more boys a
richer experience and increase its use

proclaim the week of February 6th
to 12th as “Boy Scout Week,” and do
urge our citizens to recognize the un
selfish, patriotic service being render
ed to our community by the volunteer
Scout Leaders who bring the pro
gram to the youth of our city, and
in all possible ways, to further this
wholesome youth program, and help
the City of Edenton to be adequately
represented at the great National
Scout Jamboree this year.

brown sugar crushed pineapple,
2 teaspoons undrtmti
cornstarch 2 tablespoons vinegar
Yj teaspoon dr, 1 lb. bulk pork
mustard sausage
l A cup rolled oats
Vi cup Pet Milk
Mix in small saucepan brown sugar,
cornstarch and dry mustard. Stir in
crushed pineapple and vinegar. Cook
and stir until thick and clear. Let
itand. Mix thoroughly remaining in
gredients. Shape into 8 patties. Brown
very slowly on one side. Turn patties
and spread with pineapple mixture.
Cover skillet and brown patties very
ilowly on under side. Makes 4 servings.

sell nearly 10 million seedlings this
year to more than 2,000 landowners
