I [This Atomic World I By JIMMIE CHURCH js. Practically everythin* in the field g of the atom has been experimented g v and tested in order to bring about a - state of peace to hover over the gi earth. The scientific world has gone Hr So far as to talk and write about a | bomb that is capable of destroying all ; forms of life. Destruction is not an ; element that will ever promote a I reign of peace. Yet destructive equip i ment has been the star to which the | wagon of mankind has been hitched ; for Ithe past decade. Every nation has strived to pile up more means of cestruction than the k other. Man has destroyed man! More |i money and time has been spent for pi scientific experiments in the destruc f tion of human life than for experi r ments in the field of salvation of life. 5’ Every nation has struggled for power. Man has studied and figured t and planned ways and means to de f feat his neighbor. He has not both | ered ,to think of helping ways. Every | body is greedy and plunging forward to grasp, not only the wealth of the ; other, but power. The main objec l tive—atomic power. I. IWould not this world, which God : has created for man, be more serene; l and would not life he more pleasant r*for all concerned; should atomic pow t qr be forgotten for just one twenty four hour day, and all nations and all i; people, no matter what nationality, s religion, color, or creed, join forces and create just one enormous and vig orous explosion of atomic prayer to Almighty God? The atomic world today is the world of tomorrow for which the pride of | our nation’s youth fought yesterday. Are the crosses of Flanders, the lone .graves of the deserts, the moss cov ered bodies of the jungles and the dead in the oceans symbols of peace or symbols of atomic power? Man cannot be at peace with him self without first finding peace with God. And man cannot be at peace with God so long as he is trying to ; destroy the works of God. God cre ated man and earth and reserved the l right to destroy man and earth at His will. The world was not for mortal man to rule, and no matter how big the bomb or how .powerful the em tifpire, only the undying mercy of God will give life and only the wrath of »God will destroy the things that He| has made. Atomic power could aggravate the wrath of God; but atomic prayer might hold His mercy.
