Bonner Speaker At Farm Bureau Meet On Program at Winton Following Flood Con trol Hearing Congressman Herbert C. Bonner will discuss cotton and peanut quotas and legislation on future farm pro grams Monday night, March 6, when he speaks before the Hertford County Farm Bureau in Winton. The First District Representative will speak in the court house at Win ton at eight o’clock. Mr. Bonner accepted the invitation today after being invited to speak to the Hertford County farmers by Hert ford Farm Bureau President W. D. Bowles. The Congressman is scheduled to attend the Chowan River Flood Con trol hearing at Winton Monday morn ing alt ten o’lclock. Edenton Youth Wins Award In Yokohama pfc. Thomas E. Green, son of George Austen, 211 North Oakum Street, a member of the 667th Medi , cal Ambulance Company sationed in Yokohama, Japan, was the recent win ner of the “Driver of the Week” award of the Yokohama Motor Com mand. By a process of inspection and elim ination, beginning at the squad level, going through the platoon and com pany, Private Green emerged success fully through the battalion inspection. He received a three-day pass and a certificate of commendation from the commanding officer of the Yokohama Motor Command. Entering the Army in June, 1948, Private Green took his technical train ing in Brook Army Medical School in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He arrived in Japan in December, 1948. Youth For Christ Rally Held At Wenona Church The monthly meeting of the Youth for Christ Rally was held at Wenona Church of Christ Sunday, February >26, with Vice-President Joyce Snell, presiding. An interesting program of tricks and special singing was enjoyed by all. Miss Nellie Mae Warren, a gradu ate of Atlanta Christian College, At lanta, G., made an impressive and in spiring talk on “The Church for All and All for the Church.” These ral lies are steadily growing each month and those in narge would like to urge each and everyone to try to attend them.
