'However, it was the general concensus of opinion that a full-time secretary is desired, but in view of the apparent inability to meet a budget necessary to employ such a man, the next best arrange ment is a part-time secretary. The proposal was also made that in view of the fact that a properly functioning Chamber' of Commerce benefits the town as a whole, a re quest be made for a special election to secure financial aid from the Town, which in the final analysis means that every taxpayer would be taking part in support of the Chamber of Commerce. As the result of the meeting, which r on the whole reflected a strong desire to continue operation of the Chamber . of Commerce, an effort will be made to collect dues in arrears and also revamp the system of charging dues . in the hope that more interest and more members will result, j 'Secretary Wilson announced at the meeting that plans have been made for a series of group meetings of its membership. The first one is sched t uled for Monday, April 3rd, at 8:00 P. M., in the Court House. 'Hie group which will be asked to attend this initial meeting will be composed of t filling station operators, restaurant and other eating place managers, and [ operators of tourist courts and hotels. The purpose of these meetings is , to get together those people in the community with similar aims and problems and to discuss ways in /which the Chamber of Commerce can be of assistance to them and how they can be of service to the community at large. Tentative plans are to hold the meetings in the form of open discus sion groups with no set program or speaker. The meetings will not be confined to members but all who are interested are invited to attend. It is probable that the main topic for discussion at the first meeting will 1 be the tourist industry.
