PAGE TEN Farmers Interested At Swine School Long Range Agricul tural Program Plan Progressing The long-range agricultural pro gram planning for Chowan County is progressing, says County Agent C. W. Overman. The farmer committees and tlie executive committee, assisted by Jack Kelley, swine specialist, andl J. W. Crawford, program planning speci alist, have worked out detailed rec ommendations for beef cattle and swine. The farmer committee was of inestimable value in stating the many problems facing them in the field of swine and beef cattle produc tion and also, in making suggestions for improved practices. The swine program was presented to the group at the monthly Farm Bureau meeting held at the Chowan Community Building on Friday night. At this time Jack Kelley conducted a swine school illustrated with projects ed pictures. Farmers joined in the discussion by asking questions and bringing out points on. which they had problems which were not clear. The 4 farmers attending this meeting indi cated considerable interest in asking for information by which they might do a better job of hog raising. Club At Center Hill Holds Regular Meet The Center Hill Home Demonstra tion met Thursday, April 6, at 3 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Elton Jordan. In the absence of the president, Mrs. E. R. Meekins called the meeting to order by an Easter devotional follow ed by the club collect. Mrs. E. L. Belch was appointed as chairman of the Cancer Drive with Mrs. C. B. White, Mrs. Emmett P. Jones and Mrs. Frank Miller, Jr., as helpers. As many club members as possible were urged to attend the District meeting April 18th at Central High School, Elizabeth City. The demonstration for the after noon was entertaining in the home and Mrs. Elton Jordan, hostess served in the dining room in the form of a tea. Mrs. Jordan was assisted in ser ving by Mrs. Frank Miller, Jr., Mrs. J. C. Boyce and Mrs. Emmett P. Jones. All of this was enjoyed very much. There were fifteen members present, TmthKl E DENTON, N.
