Widows of Vets Are Entitled To Federal Pension Service Officer J. L. Wiggins Points Out Benefits Allowed Widows of veterans of World War I whose income is SI,OOO or less a year are entitled to a pension of $42 a month from the Federal Govern ment, County Veterans Service Of ficer J. L. Wiggins points out. Those widows with children under certain ages are entitled to extra com pensation provided their income is not over $2,500 per year. Service by the veteran must have been between April 6, 1917, and No vember 11, 1918, and discharge or release from active duty must have been under other than dishonorable Unusual Values ... THatof jCee 7a#&t Oatmeal Jelly Cookies Broadcatt: September 16, 1950 Yt cup lifted, ill- 1 teaspoon vanilla purpose flour Vi cup light brcwn 1 teaspoon baking sugar powder 1 egg. unbeaten Vi teaspoon salt V 4 cup Pet Milk 1 cup rolled oats Vi cup jelly Vi cup loft shortening Turn on oven; set at moderate (375°). Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Fold in oats. Put shortening and vanilla into bowl. Mix in sugar slowly. Beat in egg vigorously. Add about ‘/j of flour mixture; when smooth, stir in about half of milk. Continue until all flour and milk are used. Drop by heaping teaspoons on greased baking sheet, 2 inches apart. With back of teaspoon, press hollow in each. Fill each with Vi teasp. jelly. Bake 12 min., or until light brown. Makes 2 doz.
