The meet ing was presided over by our president, Mack Pri vott. During the course oif the meeting Virginia Downing iwas elected as Historian and Dorine 'Alex ander was elected as Prophet on the Annual staff. This week we have the biography of Esther Vir ginia Downing. Mr. and Mrs. G. !W. Downing are the parents of this nice young lady. Virginia was bom here, started to school here, and is hoping to graduate from here also. «r* . . _ During her high school career rfhe has been active Virginia Downing ; n suc h extra-curriculhr activities as the Spotlight ■ staff, the .Glee Club, the Annual staff, the FHA and the Treble Clef. Virginia is interested in football, dancing, music and “Joe.” Now, just a minute, pleeze. I didn’t say which Joe. Virginia’s future plans are secretarial work. She now has a part time job at Malone’s 5-10-25 c Store. About the only thing that Virginia dislikes are peo ple with too much curiosity. 'So, betvare! Cuib your curiosity around Virginia. Keep on! We still have another biography to dis pose of. Next we have a iboy whom you all know, without Ray. Yes, I’m speaking of Adolphus Ray Rav anmill without Ray.- Ye, I'm speaking of Adolphus Ray y p Spruill. I’ll bet many of you didn’t know Ray’s whole name before. Well, there it is. j. Ray, who is a native Edentonian, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Spruill. The band and the 'Student Council have put some variations in his school career. After graduation he would like to go to the University, of North Carolina, though he hasn’t definitely decided on his future voca tion. By the way, Ray, which twin do you really like? One time he’s with one and the next time he’s with the other. What’s the matter? Is it that you can’t tell them apart yet or| is it that they’re both so cute you can’t decide between . them ? Well, you’d better hurry and make up your mind. You might lose both of them. Who knows? 168 Receive Old Age Help During October During the month of October 168 persons in Chowan received $4,206 in way of old age assistance. At the same time 24 cases of aid to depend ent children received $990 and 15 aid to bland cases received $447.
