QIIIIIIIMMIIMIUtIIMM HMOmillllllliatlllQ THE SENIOR NEWSLETTER I | |nnmnitiii ml hiiihiihuiiiiiiiiiißl By HAZEL LEART Hi Friends: It seems as if the Christmas spirit is everywhere, on the air, on television, and especially down-town in the stores and the store windows. At night when ypu ride down main street, it seems as if you are riding through a fairyland of multi-colored lights. Here at Edenton High we are beginning to see some evidence of this joyful season. In the senior class room i we have a whole blackboard on which is painted a huge picture of ISanta Claus and his sleigh and all of his reindeers including Rudolph in brilliant water colors. The other classes are also doing their part in making old E. H. S. look very festive for the holiday season. We would like to invite all i of you up to see it all as soon as we finish. Now if we can get Earl away from Carolyn long enough, we’ll try to find' out something about his life. You don’t mind if we borrow him a little while, do you, Carolyn? We won’t keep him long. O. K. Thanks a lot. Here goes. Earl, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Minshew, was bom here on April ■ 30, in 1932. He has always attended school here and has always been interested in sports. When he was a freshman, he was manager of the basketball team. During his years in high school he has been a valuable player on the football team. The Monogram Club has been proud to have Earl as a member during his foot ball career. When asked what his biggest thrill was, Earl promptly replied, “'Helping to defeat Elizabeth City last year.” His greatest ambition is to someday play college football. Maybe that ambition will come true, because he is planning to go away to school next year, that is if Uncle Sam doesn’t have other plans for him. At present Earl has a part-time job at the Dixie Grill and spends the rest of his time sleeping and coming to school. He says that he doesn’t particularly like girls, but it seems as if every, time you see Earl, you see a few girls around. Come on, Earl, don’t you like any of them, not even the one with the initials C. W. ? ? ? Whoa, there, Christine! If you’ll slow down long enough we’d like to find out a little about you. Now, that’s better. Christine, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Perry, was bom in Taiiboro and has moved around so much that she’s gotten into the habit of not staying in one place too long. In the third grade she mov ed from Tarboro to Henderson, then back to Tarboro, then to Laurinburg, then on to Cayton, and finally she dropped anchor at Edenton in the eighth grade and has been here ever since. ißeing an Honor Roll student keeps her pretty busy, but she takes time out for her other interests. Chris tine is a member of the F. H. A., and is also treasurer of the Church of God. We are keeping her busy this year as a proof reader on the annual staff. Christine’s, greatest ambition and fu ture plans are to become an efficient secretary. If she doesn’t lose that wonderful sense of responsibility and perseverance that she now has, I’m sure she won’t have very much diffi culty in obtaining her heart’s desire. We, and when I say “we”, I mean not f only myself, not only the senior class, not only Edenton High School, but everyone who is now reading this ar- | tide, all wish you and Earl the best of luck always. We are proud to have 'seventeen members of the senior class on the Senior Honor Roll. They are as fol lows: Dorine Alexander, Cynthia Ambrose, Dorothy Baker, Betty Byrum, Vir-, ginia Copeland, Virginia Downing, j Hazel Leary, Lillian Leary, Betty Let- I cher, Christine Perry, Donald Camp- j bell, Charlie Cannon, Sherwood Ches-, son, Milton Flynn, Carlton Jackson,' John Ward and Peggy Williams. j It has been announced that thej Junior-Senior banquet and prom will be held Friday, April 27, 1951.
