Banking Holiday | Tuesday, Dec. 26 f Gov. W. Kerr Scott Is-) sues Proclamation Or # dering Closing W. H. Gardner, executive vice-presi dent of the Bank of Edenton, has 'been notified that Tuesday, December 26, will be observed as a banking holiday, so that the local bank will be closed from Saturday, December 23, until Wednesday morning, December 27. The Tuesday holiday was voted by a majority of the officers and mem bers of the Executive Committee of the North Carolina Bankers Associa tion, who authorized the executive secretary to request the Governor to declare Tuesday, December 26, 1950, a banking holiday. Governor W. Kerr Scott, according ly, issued a proclamation, in which he said: “'Whereas, December 25, 1950, Christmas Day, a State and National holiday, falls on Monday; and “Whereas, by general consent, many will enjoy Tuesday, De-j cember 26, 1950, as a holiday; and | “Whereas, a request has been made I by representatives of the banking in y terests of the State that Tuesday, De- cember 26, 1950, be declared a bank ing holiday. “Now, Therefore, I, W. Kerr Scott, Governor of North Carolina, by and with the advice and consent of the Council of State, under and by virtue of authority of Section 53-77 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, do hereby designate Tuesday, December 26, 1950, as a banking holiday. Dur ing such period of holiday, all of the ordinary and usual operations and business of all banking corporations, State or National, in this State, shall be suspended, and during such period no banking corporation shall pay out or receive deposits, make loans or dis counts, transfer credits, or transact any other banking business whatso ever except such acts as are authoriz ed by the aforesaid law.” C. 6. M., at the weekly meeting held Thursday night. C. B. Mooney was elected master of the lodge, suc ceeding Hubert Williford. Others elected were W. A. Harrell, senior warden; C. T. Griffih, junior warden; C. H. Wood, treasurer, and Louis George Wilkins, secretary. Mr. Wilkins succeeds J. Edwin BufflapJ who has served the lodge as secretary I for 18 years, and who, because of so many other duties, asked that he) not be considered as a candidate. Edenton Police Arrest * 77 During November According to the monthly report of Chief of Police George I. Dail, 77 ar rests were made in Edenton during November. Os this number 66 were found guilty, six not guilty and five were transients. Arrests included 36 white males, 37 colored males and four colored females.
