PAGE TEN Market Hogs Bring Average Os $18.57 Growers Sold 1,319 Hogs For Net Return of $52,775.74 An average price of $18.57 per hun dred was paid for hogs sold at North Carolina’s 11 market hog shows and sales during 1950, according to Jack | Kelley, in charge of animal husbandry extension at State College. Growers sold 1319 hogs weighing] 284,269 pounds and received a return; of $52,775.74. The State’s largest, show was held at Rocky Mount, where 269 head of hogs were sold or exhibit ed. Highest average price was re-1 corded at Wendell, when 114 hogs sold at an average of 22.65 per hundred. 4-H Club members walked away with a lion’s share of the prizes for the year. Nine of 11 grand champions belonged to 4-H Club members and the new State record of $1.26 per pound j was set by a 4-H Club member aL Smithfield.
