Doris Miller
native Edentonian and has always attended school here. While in hjagfc school
she has been a member of such extra-curricular activities as the Oee Club,
the P. H. A., and the annual operettas. Outside school, Doris divides her
time so that she can go to see all the war movies that come here and she also
goes to see aH the games that the Co- 4
lonials play* that she can possibly go
to. She is also very interested in learn
ing to drive a car and learning to
dance. Keeping a scrapbook is now
her hobby. As for, the future Doris
would either like to be a bookkeeper
or a telephone operator. When ask- i
ed about boyfriends, Doris answered
quickly with, "None whatsoever!’
You wouldn’t hold out on us, would
you, Doris?
lAnd now on to the next biography
which is that of Carolyn Juanita
White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
P. White. Carolyn was bom here in
Edenton on July 10,1933. She spent
her childhood days here and also
started to school here. IShe continued
school here until she went to Sullin’s
Academy at Bristol, Va., where she
spent her junior year of school. We
were all glad to welcome Carolyn
back again this year. While here, She
has participated in such extra-curricu
lar activities as the band, the Glee
Club, the basketball team, the F. H. A.,
the Dramatics Club, and the Senior
play. Her outside interests "include
cooking, dancing, swimming, most
sports, movies, dating and driving.
Listening to Adi Jolson’s records and
dating Earl are Carolyn’s favorite
past-timed. Next fall Carolyn plans
to attend some nearby college where
she will begin studying to become an
elementary teacher in the years to
come.
lAs we are all aware of the fact
that none of us know just what Fate
has in store for us, we ban hope that
it will fee the best of luck always for
two such girls as nice as Doris and
Carolyn.

I Hi Friends: You should have been at the delightful
banquet and dance that the Juniors gave. At the ban
quet tfesy served a delicious dinner of fried chicken,
with all tlfe trimmihga. They used the Stork Club an
their theme and both the Coffee (Shop and (the armory
were attractively decorated. Another attraction was
the group of cute, little cigarette girls who passed
around candy cigarettes. The Senior class would like
to extend to the Junior class their thanks for the
1 wonderful -time that was had by ah.
And now, to rftop the reminiscence about Friday

>RGE DAIL SAYS
(Speed increases traffic danger. You
have less time to avoid, an accident.
If you should be involved in an acci
dent, it is more likely to be fatal if
you are speeding. Death and Speed
go ,hand in hand.
TAKE IT EASY—LIVE TO WALK
OR DRIVE ANOTHER DAY!
When following another car in traf
fic, remember: leave at least one full
car length between you and the other
car for every ten males per hour of
speed. Increase this distance when
streets are wt or muddy or driving
conditions are otherwise unfavorable.
KEEP YOUR DISTANCE—KEEP
OUT OF ACCIDENTS!
This Week's Poem
By WILBORNE HARRELL
MOTHERHOOD
“Whom do you love, my little maid,”
A mother asked her toddling child
As busily with her doll she played,
And kept play-house in the sawdust
pile.
“I love you, Mommy; Daddy, too.”
And close to her the doll she
pressed . ..
And hard it is for us to say
Which of the three'the child loved best.
