PAGE TWO Sarah White Bride Os James RHoHand Ceremony Performed In Smithfield, Va., on Julyl2 Miss Sarah Isabel White, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Addison White, became the bride of James Rogers Holland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rufus Holland, of Smithfield, Thursday night, July 12, at nine o’clock at the Smithfield Theatre. The double ring ceremony was per formed by Rev. Alphonso Jordan, of Raleigh. Jimmy Manning, of Isle of Wight, sang “Because” and “I "Love You Truly.” Mrs. Mary Gale of Smithfield, was oreanist. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a gown of candle light satin with a Chantilly lace bo dice and full skirt ending in a train. Her veil of illusion fell from a band of orange blossoms. Her long sleeves ended in points over her hands in which she carried a shower bouquet of Bride’s Roses. Mrs. Fred A. White, Jr., of Eden ton, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a blue organdy gown and carried a nosegay of mixed spring flowers. The attendants were Mrs. Frances Rothrock and Miss Frances Rothrock and Miss Frances Lassiter, all of Smithfield, and Miss Lina Smallwood, Miss Lottie Ann Leary and Miss Ber nice Williams, all of Edenton. They wore blue, yellow, and pink gowns of organdy and carried nosegays of mixed spring flowers. Miss Brenda Joyce Turner and Miss Shelia Kay Crocker, of Smithfield, were flower girls and carried minia ture nosegays of mixed spring flow ers against their white organdy dress es. Mr. Holland had as his best man, John Alton Moore, of Smithfield. Ushers were Billy Marchant, Fred White, Jr., Jack White, Edward Rob erts, Glenn Scott and Jerry Stallings. Mrs. White, mother of the bride, wore an afternoon dress of pale blue. A reception for the immediate family, members of the wedding party and out of town guests followed at the home of Mrs. M. W. Fulghum in Smithfield. The couple will make their home in Smithfield. V Roy Byrd Gray Dies 1 As Result Os Luketnia Roy Byrd Gray, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gray, died in Chowan Hospital Sunday morning at ( 10:30 o’clock. He had been ill for ( three weeks with death caused by acute lukemia. The boy this year had com pleted the fifth grade in the Edenton ’ school. | Besides his parents he is survived by two brothers, Bobby and Herbie . and a sister, Faye Carroll. • Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the Baptist • Church with the pastor, the Rev. R. N. Carroll, officiating. Interment was made in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Turkey Population Is j About Like Last Year The turkey population in Chowan !
