The Edenton High School will be
gin its out-<af-adK>oi recreation pro
gram on Thursday night, October 9,
from 7 P. M., to 9 P. M., in the gym
nasium.
Beginning next week the out-of- '
school recreation program is scheduled
for Tuesday and Thursday nights con.
tinuously throughout the school year
at the time stated above.
This year Edenton High School is
proud to announce that there will be
several new features in its recreation
program.
Some of these new features are:
arts and crafts, folk and square danc
ing, creative dance groups, radio
quizzes and hobby clubs.
Os course, we still play cards and
volley ball and the many games that
were offered last year.
We want you to come out for a
relaxing and enjoyable evening with
us every Tuesday and Thursday
nights from 7 to 9.
Come out and support the program.
Let’s have fun together. You and
only you are the recreational program
builders.
The Edenton High School for the
present school year is going all out
for better school and community. It|
has selected for the title of the
school’s theme, “Tomorrow Won’t
Wait.”
The theme of the school will and
is being placed throughout the school.
The students and teachers are working
hard to make the theme a living and
usable reality. The school family is
looking forward to the help that will
come from parents and patrons of
the community.
The activities' of the Whole school
will be centered around the theme,
so if the parents and patrons of the
school are interested in what is going
on they have a standard invitation
to visit our programs and classrooms.
The teachers and students will appre
ciate your visits.
The Hornets invaded the grounds of
IC. S. Brown High (School, Wdnton, and
returned victorious with a score of
12 to 6 in our favor.
■ The teams scored: Edenton in the
first quarter, Winton in Hie third, and
Edenton again in the fourth.
The outstanding players for the
Hornets were Revels, Mefbane, ißoun
tree, Outlaw, Bond, SpruiM and Valen
tine.

Plans for the greatest home-coming
yet are progressing very satisfactori
ly, says Chairman Sharpe of the
Homecoming Committee. Many new
features are being planned for this
great occasion. The biggest parade
ever is to be staged at 1:00 P. M.,
on October 31 and the game will begin
at 2:00 P. M.
Local Soldier Enjoys
Vacation In Japan
Army Pfc. David L. Newsome, son
of Mr. and Mrs. David Newsome, 213
W. Albemarle Street, recently spent
a five-day vacation from Korea on
a rest and recuperation leave in Ja
pan.
A member of the 25th Infantry
Division, he stayed in one of the finest
I hotels in Japan and enjoyed many
luxuries unobtainable in Korea. The
leave is part of the Army’s policy
to give the fighting soldier a rest

At Woman’s Club

A baby contest will be conducted prior
to this performance, and the corona
tion of the king and queen will also
take place on the stage. Tickets may
be purchased in advance from mem
bers of the three sponsoring organi
zations. Adult admission price is 65c
and all school children will be admit
ted for 25c.
Mrs. Frank Holmes, chairman of
the Teen Age Club Board of Direc
tors, announced that Saturday, Octo
ber 11, will be Teen Age Day in
Edenton, with teen-agers soliciting
contributions of any amount for the
Teen Age Club. She emphasized the
great need for more games and fur
niture and expressed the hope that
local citizens will find such items
during fall cleaning. She urged any
one having games, card tables, lamps,
chairs, or other suitable equipment
to call her and she will see to it that
it is picked up and necessary repairs
made for use at the Teen Age Club.
Welfare Chairman Mrs. James Bond
announced that a clothing drive is
being conducted this month. There
is particular need at this time for all
types of clothing for school children
