Chowan 4-H Boys Trying For Team In Livestock Judging Group of Six Travel to Rocky Mount Wed nesday Chowan County 44H Club boys who are interested in livestock judging hare recently had practice in judging. " Several club members from Chowan School are determined to make the. team, and have been concentrating on fat steers and fat hogs for market. There will he four boys on the team, with two alternates. Therefore, there is still much competition among the boys to make the team. This is the first year that Chowan County has had a livestock judging team. In addition to prizes and awards which may be won, .the team members learn a great deal about the selec tion of good livestock. GUILD (MEETS APRIL 13 The Wesleyan Service Guild of the Methodist Church will meet at 8 o’clock Monday night, April 13, at the home of Mrs. Harry Lassiter on . the base road. The total figures for North Caro lina’s 100 counties were as follows: Series E $4,726,355.50; Series H $161,- 000.00; Series J & K (combined) $ 60,628.00; totaling $5,547,983.60. County Chairman Hartess in an nouncing the above sales, explained that the foregoing state sales figures include $674,000.00 of Series E Bonds purchased by North Carolinians in the Armed forces during January. These sales, which have not been previously reported, were distributed to North Carolina’s 100 counties on a per capita basis in February sales. Chairman Harless also stated that the people of Pender County have ai reaidy, during the first two months of this year, exceeded their entire 1953 year’s Defense Bonds sales quota. Pender is the only county'in the state so far which has equalled or exceed ed*its 1953 quota. 'At a brief business meeting (W. Jim Daniels of Edenton was elected song leader of the sing, succeeding (Levy Goodwin of Ahoskie, who died in De cember after serving as song leakier for 20 years. Mr. Daniels will also head the sing ing at a revival meeting in the (Letwis ton Baptist Church which will begin Sunday, April 12, and continue for 10 days.
