The letters used in the maridng system of the Edenton High School are: “A”, ‘IB”, “C”, and “D”. “A” Pupil: Is careful and thorough in preparation of all required work. Has excellent self-control and effec tive study habits. "B” Pupil: Prepares all assign ments carefully. Is a good Student, but does no* show much initiattiivie. “C” Pupil: Does good work most of the time, but requires considerable direction and stimulation from the teacher. Needs to develop more inde pendent habits of study. “D” Pupil: Fails to accomplish the fundamental minimum essentials nec essary for continued progress . Study habfbs are poor or Ineffective. There is one point that is quirt* im portant in helping rt» bring about the whole development of She students, and that is regular attendance. Regu lar attendance will aid all students in getting the maximum amount of school work. * In our article of next week, addi tional information on the subject will be given. The Student Council is inow in the midst of electing its members for the 1953-54 school term. Registra tion books are now open and voting will take place on April 30. Offices open are president, vice president and secretary of Sftudent Coulnefil and managers for .boys’ and girls’ basket ball and football teams. The annual May Queen-Fashion Show sponsored by the homemaking department under the direction of Mrs. D. F. Johnrtdn will be held Fri day night, May JlsSt in the Edenton High School gymnasium, IConrtwst artts are running from all high school classes and the queen will be crown ed on this night by last year's May Queen. The Eighth grade of Edenton High School will present its annual play entitled “Who’s A Sissy,” a three act play, Monday, April 27, in the school auditorium at 8 P. M. The firsft Career Day .program was observed" at the Edenton High School on Friday, April 17. The program began at 10:00 A. M., with IG S. Newsome of the high school faculty as chairman. ,The welcoming address was given by Claude Jones, Jr., presi dent of the Student Council. D. F. Walker, * principal introduced the speaker for the morning session, Mrs. E. L. Byrd, supervisor of schools in Chowan and Perquimans County. Mrs. Byrd used as her subject, “Self In ventory Qualifications” with five bas ic points: i(l) Personality, i(2) Health, (S) Intellect (4) Character and (5) Friendliness. At 11:00 A. M., an open forum, with conferences and discussions, was held with the following acting as consultants: The Rev. J. E. Tillett, business; the Rev. H JC. Calloway, religion; James Charlton, Mortuary Science; Charlie Bembry, Jr., shoe | repairing and Grady ISessoms, bar bering. At 1:30 the afternoon session be gan and the following consultants led the discussions in their various fields: Dr. J. A. Mitchener, Pharmacy; Dr. O. L. Holley, Medicine; Dr. John H.
