Mrs. Clyde Cobb and young son
Dickey are spending today (Thurs
day) and Friday in Norfolk as
guests of Mrs. W. A. Sexton, Sr.
While in Norfolk Master Cobb will
visit an X-ray specialist for observa
tion in connection with his hearing.
Miss Peggy Vincent left Sunday for
her home in Norfolk after spending
the past two weeks with her aunt,
Mrs. J. M. Fleetwood, Jr., and Mr.
Fleetwood.
Misses Dot Davis, Neldia Haste,
Magdalene and Jessie Lee Downing
spent the week-end at White Lake and
Fayetteville. At the latter place they
visited Miss Davis’ brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Judge.
Mrs. Edith Oliver and daughter,
Miss Annette, returned Friday night
from Richmond and Lawrenceville,
Va., where they spent the past week
visiting relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bond left
Wednesday for Myrtle Beach, S. C.,
i where they will spend a few days as
'guests of the Durham Life Insurance
Company. The trip was awarded Mr.
Bond for being one of the five insur
ance agents in -the district making the
i highest record in writing new busi
ness. They will return home Sunday.
Mrs. P. T. Owens of Phoebus, Va.,
her daughter, Mrs. J. H. O’Dowd and
two children, Pat and Carroll, spent
Wednesday and Thursday with Mr.
and Mrs. Ezzelle Ward.
Mr. and Mrs; Gerald James and son
Billy left Monday for San Benito,
Texas, where they will spend a three
weeks’ vacation visiting relatives.
. Miss Rebecca Colwell, former Cho
wan County home agent, spent the
week-end in Edenton visiting friends.
Miss Colwell is now home agent for
Craven County with her office at New
Bern.
Miss Billie Russell left Monday for
Lake Charles, La., where she will
visit her brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. J. Warren Magee.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bond left
Wednesday for Myrtle Beach to spend
a vacation which was won by Mr.
Bond in connection with writing in
surance business.

UNDERGOES EYE OPERATION
Miss Patricia Harrell, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Hoskins Harrell, under
went an eye operation at DePaul Hos
pital, Norfolk, early last week. Her
friends will be glad to know she is
making satisfactory progress, and on
Saturday was to return to her
home near Edenton.
