Page Ten Joint Meeting For Methodist Societies A joint meeting of the Wesleyan Service Guild and Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Metho dist Church will be held at the par sonage Tuesday night, July 7, at 8 o’clock. Mrs. E. B. Edwards and Mrs. W. O. Speight will serve as hostesses. The spiritual life leaders of each society will be in charge of the pro gram, and all members of both groups are urged to attend. July 4,1953 lVi cups sifted, lVi cups brown all-purpose floor sugar Vi teaspoon baking Vi cup melted soda shortening Vi cup cocoa 1 teaspoon vanilla teaspoon salt 1 unbeaten egg Vi cup coarsely cut, V 4 cup Pet n"»lM nuts Evaporated Milk 3 Tablespoonsewater run on oven and set at moderately slow (2t50). Sift together onto piece of paper the floor, soda, cocoa and salt. Fold in nuts. Put brown sugar into a 2-quart bowL Mix in shortening and vanilla well. Add egg and beat hard. Stir in half of flour mixture. Stir in mixture of and water. Add flour mixture that is left and mix welL Drop by teaspoons 2 inches apart on greased cooky pan. Bake on oven rack slightly above center 10 minutes, or until firm to a light touch of the finger. Remove from pan at once. Makes 4 dozen.
