Health Officer Calls Attention To Permit To6ußdSepticTanks Two Men Recently In dicted For Violating Ordinance Dr. B. B. McGuire, District Health Officer, calls attention to two recent indictments for failure to obtain a permit before constructing a septic tank which is in violation of an ordi nance passed by the District Board of Health on April 25, 1953. In Chowan Recorder’s Court on Tuesday, June 23, Ralph G. Hall of Edenton was indicted, but the case was nol pressed after Mr. Hall agreed to build the tank according to State regulations. These regulations were designed to make certain that all septic tanks be built in such a manner as to pro tect the health of the family, the neighbors, and the general public, and to prevent pollution of streams by raw sewage. J. P. Forehand of Camden County was indicted for starting construction of a septic tank without a permit. This warrant was withdrawn on the promise of the defendant that he would obtain a permit and build his tank according to the regulations. It is hoped that all persons plan ning to build a septic tank in Cam den, Chowan, Pasquotank and Per quimans Counties will first obtain their permit before starting construc tion.'
