Revival In Progress At Warwick Church ■-'*» .* ; . • President of State Bap tist Convention Is Speaker •Revival services are now in progress at Warwick Baptist Church, where services are being held each after noon at 3 o’clock and 8 o’clock at night. The speaker is the Rev. Doug las M. Branch, pastor of the First Baptist Church at Rocky Mount. Mr. Branch is president of the State Bap tist Convention. The pastor of the church, the Rev. Lee A. Phillips, extends a cordial in vitation to all to attend- Jesse White Grateful For Cooperation In Disaster Organization Jesse White, assistant chairman of the Chowan County Red Cross Disas ter Committee, is high in praise of the efficient manner in which various people worked during Thursday night’s severe storm. Mr. White ser ved in the absence of the chairman, Mayor Leroy Haskett, who was out of town. Mr. White called on the local Nat ional Guard unit, firemen and police, who remained on the alert during the night. John Ross, the police and the Edenton Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field’s short wave radios were operating, so that contact of the storm’s progress was checked every two minutes until it was only 15 miles from Edenton. Due .to this information prepara tions were rapidly made for any emer gency and the armory, Court House and white and colored schools were open to house anyone who might have been injured or needed, shelter due to the wind and rain. ’ Many people spent the night in the armory and colored schools. Mr. White comment ed upon the efficiency of the organi zation, which was functioning 30 min utes after he called for action, and many cars were parked at the armory ready for any emergency. Mr. White desires to thank every person who contributed in any way to the splendid success of the work done ii: connection with the storm and says he is proud of the willingness and co operative spirit in which everyone re sponded when called upon. Amendments Made To Septic Tank Ordinance The District 'Board of Health at a meeting in Elizabeth City on August 11, amended the sfeptic tank ordinance in the following manner. Section 2 a a —No person shall start corfstruction of a septic tank system until the Health Officer or his representative has first inspected the site and assisted in planning its loca tion.
