Wedding: Solemnized In Asheville Sunday, September € The wedding of Miss Helen Augus ta Lackey to Rufus Hector Lupton, Jr., was solemnised on Sunday, Sep tember 6th, in an afternoon ceremony in the chapel of Central Methodist Church, Asheville, N. C. The double ring ceremony was performed by the pastor, Dr. E. H. Blackard. Charles Jolliff, organist, presented a program of wedding music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dixon Alexander Lackey of Asheville and the bridegroom is the Bon of Mr. and Mrs. Hector Lupton of Edenton. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina-length gown of nylon tulle and chantilly lace over satin. The lace bodice was fashioned with an illustion yoke, Peter Pan collar, self-covered buttons and long sleeves ending in points over the hands. The bouffant skirt of tulle had an over-skirt of scalloped chan tilly lace. Her fingertip veil of il lusion was attached to a matching lace Julliette cap trimmed with seed pearls and she carried a white prayer book topped with a purple throated orchid, showered with tuberoses. Her only ornament was a strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. Mrs. John B. Collins of Asheville and Raleigh, was matron of honor. She wore a gown of emerald green velveteen, styled with a strapless bo dice and tulle skirt with a velveteen jacket. Her headdress was a match ing Juliette cap of velveteen and tulle and she carried a nosegay of mixed pastel flowers. Bridesmaids were Miss Sharon Lup ton, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Frieda Ring, of Asheville. They wore gowns and headdresses of coral berry velveteen and tulle, fashioned like that of the honor attendant. Their bouquets were nosegays of mixed pas tel flowers. Attending Mr. Lupton as best man was his father, and groomsmen were Dixon Lackey, Jr., brother of the bride, Jesse Noland and Bob Bruton of Asheville, fraternity brothers of the bridegroom, and Polk Williams of Edenton. The bride’s mother wore a gown of ■navy blue lace with matching acces sories and an orchid corsage. The bridegroom’s mother wore an acqua lace gown with matching accessories and corsage of gardenias. Mrs. Lupton attended Women’s Col lege, Greensboro, where she was a member of the Dikean Society. Mr. Lupton was graduated in June from the University of North Caro lina with a degree in business ad ministration. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, National business fraternity. Brown, 77, died Mon day morning at 4:55 o’clock at her home in Colerain only five hours af ter she was stricken with cerebral hemorrhage. A native of Perquimans County, she was the widow of the late John Brown and lived in Colerain many years. Surviving are two sons, O. L. Brown of Edenton and Winston Brown of Colerain; five' daughters, Mrs. Cora Freeman of Colerain, Mrs. Annie Dickens of Murfreesboro, Mrs. Ora Jones of Edenton, Mrs. Ruby Phipps of Seaboard and Mrs. Loveray Toler of Fort Pierce, Florida. She was a member of the Colerain Baptist Church, where funeral ser vices were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The pastor, the Rev. P. T.
