' Shirley Harwell was recognized as second place territorial winner in the farm and home electric contest and attended the Electric Congress at which time she was awarded a gold watch. Leon Frivott and Jackie Morris were recognised for their part in putting on a team demonstration in the National Junior Vegetable Grow ers Association contest last June. Sherwood Harrell was recognized for having put on an individual demon stration in the same contest. A cup was awarded the Chowan 10th, 11th and 12th Grade Club for I one year. The cup will be engraved with the club’s name and was given in recognition of this club’s many ac tivities in the County Council, com munity activities, etc. The Rocky Hock Club won the plaque for being the best Grammar School club in Chowan County. Local 4-H Club leaders who have done so much to make the club pro gram a success were recognized by Mr. Marsh. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Skin ner, Mrs. J. W. Morris and Wallace Goodwin, Jr., were presented to the group as local leaders. A few of the other local leaders were not present. Parents of the 4-H Club members were also recognized for their part in their children’s activities. Apprecia tion is expressed to W. J. Nichols, principal o"f Chowan High School, and the Chowan faculty for their coopera for 1958-54. Punch, minta and nuts were served after the program to approximately 125 club members, parents and friends. At 8:30 a junior tractor drivers’ contest will be held. This will be for boys in school, and beys out of school who are not over 17 ysars sf »8 e - There will be two events, one for the white boys and one for Cv.lor.il boys. Prizes will be awarded the winners. At 4.30 another valunole aitendance prize will be awarded to the lucky number drawn. This will be a day packed full of action. Every event will have to run on schedule. Farmers will have an opportunity to observe the latest trac tors and equipment, suited to this area, handled by local dealers. The information given cy the demonstra tion teams should prove very valu able. The contests should provide con siderable fun. Due to the limited time, the tractor drivers’ contests will be limited to three contestants in each event.
