Methodists Join In National Crusade Effort Will Be Made to Increase Church At tendance Members of the Edenton Methodist Church are cooperating in a nation wide church attendance crusade which ig hwfteg promoted throughout Metho dised* America. More than 100 An nuaPConferences having nine million members in more than 40,000 churches and served by more than 25,000 pas tors are involved in the crusade which began last Sunday and will run through Easter Sunday, April 5. The Council of Bishops of the Meth odist Church has planned this nation wide church attendance crusade and called upon all members to cooperate in it. The North Carolina Conference and the Elizabeth City District have endorsed it and have set up proper organization to support it. In calling for this crusade, the Council of Bishops said in part, “A large percentage of the members of the Methodist Church do not attend 1 regularly the Sunday services in their churches. Many attend infrequently or not at all. It is evident that a new birth of spiritual life for the en tire church depends in part upon a de votion to regular and systematic at tendance by a large percentage of those who are counted as Methodists ... It is our earnest conviction that a church attendance crusade will strengthen the spiritual life of a countless number of members of the church and stimulate many thousands of church members to begin the reg ular ha’>it of church attendance.” In connection with the crusade, a meeting of the Evangelism and Mem bership Commission of the Edenton Church will meet at the parsonage to night (Thursday! at 7:30 o’clock.
