Sessions
Members of the Edenton Rotary
Club have been invited to attend the
annual District conference to be held
in Rocky Mount February 14, 15, 16,
and a number of them, including the
officers, are expected to attend.
Highlights of the program are out
lined in an announcement received by
officers of the local club from Dis
trict Governor P. D. Midgett, Jr., of
Englehard. and Graham Dozier, Rocky
Mount, conference chairman.
Conference Headquarters will be at
the Ricks Hotel.
Dr. C. Sylvester Green, executive
vice-president of the North Carolina
Medical Foundation, a nast District
Governor, will be the principal speak
ei at the opening session Sunday
night, February 14.
Dr. Trela D. Collins, a retired Dur
ham minister, will address the lunch
eon session on Monday, and Claude W.
Woodward, Richmond, Va., vice-presi-l
dent of Rotary International and a
past director, will be the principal
speaker at the Governor’s Banquet
Monday night.
Paul Lucas, Charlotte, public rela
tions director for the Duke Power
Company, and an immediate past Dis
trict Governor, will addrers the clos
ing luncheon session Tuesday, Febru
ary 16.
Various phases of Rotary activities
will be covered in short talks by dis
cussion leaders at plenary sessions
Monday and Tuesday mornings.
Monday afternoon will be given over
to sightseeing tours and recreation.
Egbert Peeler, Raleigh, is the only
announced candidate so far for Dis
trict Governor. New officials will
take office July 1.

State’s Centenarians
Now Being Sought
Information concerning all persons'
in the Tar Heel State who have pass
ed their 100th birthday is being sought
by the Medical Society of the State
of North Carolina. The information
about centenarians existing in the
state is being made for research pur- 1
poses throughout the country.
Recent estimates have placed the
probable number of North Carolina
residents who are past their 100th
birthday at slightly more than 200.
Anyone in the state having infor
mation about persons of 100 years of
