Miss Lelia Ward Weds Richard Graham Byrum Miss Lelia Ward, daughter of Mrs. Alvah H. Ward and the late Mr. Ward became the bride of Richard Graham Byrum, of Edenton, in a candlelight ceremony performed Sunday, Febru ary 14 at 3:30 P. M., in the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church at Manteo, N. C. The pastor, the Rev. H. R. Ardmore, was the officiating minister. Wedding music was rendered by Mrs. Victor D. Meekins of Manteo, organist and Mr. John Long, soloist. The bride was given in marriage by her brother Lt. Alvah H. Ward, U. S. ] Army, now stationed at Fort Ben ning, Georgia. She wore a wedding] gown of white chantilly lace and tulle, over satin, styled with a shoulder wide | sheer yoke attached to a lace peter pan collar. The tight bodice was fin- ( ished with abbreviated sleeves. The, Elizabethan skirt with petals of lace over the hipline formed a sweeping train. Her finger tip length veil was, arranged from a half hat of lace out lined with seed pearls. She carried' a heart-shape bouquet of white roses j centered with a white orchid. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Allen Lee Mann, Jr., and Misses Doreen Mid gett, Helen Farrow and Janie Lee Etheridge of Manteo. They wore floor length gowns of aqua, stried identically to the honor attendant® |h matching bonnets. They carried wm quets of yellow roses. Edward Byrum of Colerain was his brother’s best man. Ushers were Al jlen L. Mann, Jr., and Jewell Bums of j Manteo, and Willis Nixon and Ralph Ward of Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Ward, mother of the bride, wore a gown of hyacinth blue taffeta and lace embroidered with pearls. She I wore a corsage of pink roses. The mother of the groom wore a navy blue lace and chiffon gown with a cor sage of red roses. Immediately following the ceremony a recention was held at the home of the bride, For traveling the bride wore a grav wool suit with white hat and the orchid from her houquet. Af ter the wedding trip they will be at home, 2106 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk, , Virginia. BRIDE-ELECT HONORED On Thursday of last week Miss Dor is Layton and Mrs. Thomas Cross. Jr., entertained Miss Helen Barrow, bride elect, at a miscellaneous shower at the latter’s home. Miss Barrow was pre sented a corsage of carnations and a gift in her silver by the hostesses. Refreshments of ice cream, cake, nuts, and mints were served to the fol lowing guests: Mesdames Jack Barrow, William White, Beverly Cooper. George Dail, Betsy Miller Lane, Rodney Harrell, Jr., and Ann Henry and Carolyn Lane of Hertford, Misses Elwanda Gibbs, Helen Boswell, Mary Berryman.
