Miss Martha Frances Bennett,
daughter of Mrs. John Arcaro of
Edenton and A. T. Bennett of Lexing
ton became the bride of Arthur Mar
tin Bissell, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H.
Bissell of Lumberton in a ceremony j
Sunday afternoon, February 28, at 5:
o’clock in the Godwin Heights Baptist
Church, with the pastor, the Rev. H.
W. Baucom, officiating.
Wedding music was presented by
Mrs. Howard Bodkin of Greenville, pi
anist, and Sgt. Rusty Calaei of Eden
ton, soloist.
Given in marriage by her stepfath- ■
er, John P. Arcaro, the bride wore a
gown of white lace and tulle over taf
feta. Her fingertip veil of illusion
was attached to a halo of orange blos
soms. and she carried a cascade of
white snandragons and carnations, cen
tered with a white orchid.
Miss Juanita Bennett of Edenton at
tended her cousin as maid of honor.
Rridesmaids were Miss Carlyn Lewis
of Hertford, cousin of the bride, and
Mrs. Billy Stanley of Raeford.
The gowns of the attendants were
fashioned of lace and tulle over taffe
ta in pastel shades. Their headdress
es were of matching tulle and they
carried matching nosegays of carna
tions.
Ellis Britt of Lumberton attended
the bridegroom as best man, and ush
ers were Grady Bissell of Lumberton,
brother of the bridegroom, Billy Stan
ley of Raeford, Bobby Stone and Har
ry Walters, both of Lumberton.
Miss Beryl Bissell of Fairmont,
niece of the bridegroom, was flower
girl. She wore a white net over taf
feta dress and carried a basket of
white rose petals. Dickie Britt of.
Lumberton was ring bearer. I
The mother of the bride wore a
dress of navy crepe with white acces
sories. The mother of the bridegroom
wore a navy crepe dress with white
accessories and a corsage of red roses.
Mrs. Bissell is a graduate of Eden-'
ton High School and has recently
made her home with her aunt, Mrs.
B. M. Floyd, in Lumberton. While
living in Edenton Mrs. Bissell was
chosen as “Miss Edenton” and was a i
member of “The Three Bows”, a trio
called upon very frequently to sing at
various affairs.
The bridegroom received his educa- <
tion at Jones Commercial College in
High Point. He served two years
with the U. S. Navy, and is now part- {

home.
For a wedding trip to Florida the
bride wore a pink and gray checked
wool suit, with gray accessories and
an orchid. Upon their return the cou
ple will be at home in Lumberton.
