Vaccination Against Rabies This Month; District Health Officer purges All Dogs to w Be Vaccinated The District Board of Health at a meeting on March 9th passed a reso lution declaring a campaign of vacci nation against rabies of all dogs in this Health District beginning in April. State law requires that all dogs be vaccinated when a campaign is being conducted. “While no rabies has been found in humans or animals locally,” says Dr. B. B. McGuire, District Health Offi cer, “a rabid dog has recently been found in Martin County. Only through vaccination of all dogs in our Health District can we feel comparatively safe from this dreaded and uniformly fatal disease.” Rabies inspectors are Dr. G. L. Gil christ of Edenton for Chowan Coun- ' ty, Professor G. C. Buck of Hertford for Perquimans County, and Dr. Vic tor Finck for the northern half of Pas quotank and Camden counties and Dr. T. V. Dahl for the southern half of Pasquotank and Camden counties. ( “Have your dogs vaccinated to pro tect yourselves and your children from . rabies," says Dr. McGuire. “The rabies inspectors’ schedule will be announced soon.” Art Show Will Be Held Saturday and Sunday | (Continued from Page One) to 6 o’clock in the afternoon. Attention is called to all those who desire to enter an exhibit that the | Penelope Barker House will be open today (Thursday) from 10 A. M., to 2 P. M., in order to accept adult en tries. Judging of the various exhibits will be done by W. Frith Winslow, a pro-! fessional artist from Plymouth. A considerable amount of time and effort has been spent in staging a creditable show and it is hoped many people will go to the Penelope Barker House to witness it. Pre-School Clinics (Continued From Page One) May 14 at 9 A. M.—White Oak or before October 15, 1948, should at tend one of these clinics. Frequently at these clinics physical defects are found that can be corrected before school opens. The earlier in life de- , sects are corrected, the less perman-1 ent damage will result, arid the more improvement can be expected to the damage already manifested. Parents will he welcome at all clin ics, hut their presence is not neces sary. Children car. he taken to the clinic by an older child if desired, but j at the clinic the child’s full name and exact date of birth mus' he furnish ed. Dr. McGuire urges friends to tel! i their neighbors about the clinic, for many times there are some parents who do not know about them. i B;: ; ! ; $233.50 At horn* anywhere.
