Carolyn Swindell To Wed D. C. Lewis, Jr. Wedding Will Be Held 1 In Baptist W Church Mr. and Mm J. D. Swindell an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Carolyn Swindell to Dempster C. Lewis, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Dempster C. Lewis of New Hart ford, New York. The wedding is planned for Sunday iftemoon, August 1, at 4:30 n the Edenton Baptist Church. Miss Swindell attended Woman’s ■"ollege in Greensboro, where she ma ored in voice and attended the School if Nursing of Medical College of ;outh Carolina and Roper Hospital in Charleston, S. C. When not busy with ler nursing curricula, Miss Swindell ang on radio station WSCS in Charleston. She was also soloist in he Citadel Square Baptist Church Choir under the direction of John lolmes, formerly of Raleigh. Mr. Lewis, who is a native of New lartford, N. Y., is a graduate of the Jniversity of Michigan, Ann Arbor, fich. During World War II he ser ed three years in the Navy, two j ears in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.' le has been living in Greensboro for ix years and is now employed in j ligh Point as assistant secretary of tie Textile Insurance Company. Vnhydrous Ammonia Used More Extensively Anhydrous ammonia as a source of itrogen for com is being used more Ktensively this year, according to ounty Agent C. W. Overman. Sev ral farmers applied one hundred ounds of anhydrous ammonia per ere before planting. Others are us ig it prior to or at the last culti ation. The regular amount of mixed srtilizer was used, usually 400 to 00 pounds of 5-10-10 per acre at lanting time. There has been some misunderstand ig as to the acid forming of anhy rous ammonia. The Experiment Sta ion reports that it will require 152 ounds of dolomitic lime to counter ct the acid formed by 100 pounds of le HKydrous ammonia. In other sed per acre every year for five* ears it would require an application f only 760 pounds of dolomitic lime > off-set the acid formed. Irs. Annie Farless Dies At Colerain 9 Mrs. Anfiie Farless, 83, died at her l»me at Colerain Monday morning at 9:45 o’clock. She was the widow of He late Joseph E.
