LIST AT MARS HILL COLLEGE
The name of Miss Mary Ann Elliott,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M.
Elliott, appears on the Dean’s List for
the spring semester ht Mars Hill Col
lege, just released from the registrar’s
office.
To be eligible for the Dean’s List a
student must earn 40 quality credits
with no grade below C. Out of ap
proximately 850 students, 132 were
entitled to a place on the list last
semester.

the new year at the club’s meeting
Monday night with Dr. W. S. Griffin
in charge of the installation ceremony.
Those installed were: Earl G. Har
rell, president, who succeeds Jesse
Harrell; C. A. Phillips, first vice pres
ident; Ernest J. Ward, Jr., second vice
president; M. A. Hughes, third vice
president; tail twister, G. Medlin
Belch; Lion tamer, Percy Smith; sec
retary-treasurer, W. J. Taylor; pianist,
Earl Harrell; chorister, J. Clarence
Leary. Directors for two years, West
Leary, Jr., and J. R. Byrum; directors
for one year, J. R. Dulaney and Au
brey Turbeville.
W. W. Byrum presented out-going
President Jesse Harrell with a past
president’s pin and expressed the
1 club’s appreciation for his services
during the year. Mayor Leroy H.
Haskett expressed appreciation to
past President Harrell on behalf of
the community for his efforts toward
the erection of a swimming pool in
Edenton.
Earl Harrell expressed appreciation
to the club for their confidence in him
and stated that he was very proud
to be president of the Lions Ciub. He
pledged to faithfully perform the dut
jies of the president and requested the
members of the club to work as a
team for a successful year.
