Home Demonstration Agent
I. E. Halsey, Jr., County Coun-
President, received the following
letter of thanks from Mrs. F. A.
Shook, Jr„ Chairman, Service Groups,
Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry
Point, North Carolina:
“Dear Mrs. Halsey: The Gray Lady
Service of Cherry Point, wished to
thank you for your most generous do
nation of cookies for our use. Please
convey our deep appreciation to the
members of the various clubs in your
Federation. The donation has gone to
help continue our program in the In
firmary.
“We operate a lounge for the am
bulatory patients and serve Coffee,
cookies, fruit juice and iced tea and
punch in season. Available in the
lounge are magazines, games, record!
player, and records for their use.
“We visit the wards twice daily. In
the morning we distribute Comfort
Articles and take shopping requests
and fill them. In the afternoon we
take the Book Cart around from which
the patients may have magazines,
books, newspapers, etc.
“A monthly ward party is held for
the patients in the ward unable to
come to the lounge. We play games
and often live entertainment is avail
able to add to their enjoyment. We
serve cake and coffee or punch. The
parties are always the high spot in the
month for bed patients.
“We also have an active Craft nro,
gram. The patients are able to make
model airplanes and shins, or work on
woven plasticebelts and lanyards.
“In addition to our work with the
men in the Wards, the Gray Ladies
work in the Out Patient Department
and the Pediatrics Department. We
perform chaperone duty for the doc-'
tors and stand-by for the X-rays.
“By this brief resume you can see
we have a very active group of Gray
, Ladies and we appreciate greatly the
help you have given. May I again say'
thank you for being so kind. We all
are so pleased over the wonderful re
sponse from your group.
“Sincerely.
“Mrs. F. A.' Shook, Jr.

One of the most costly buildings on the new Wake Forest College campus is going to he one of the
most used.
It is the Center Building, lying on the southern end of a rectangular area that is bordered on the
north by Wait Chapel and on each side by boy’s dormitories. The Center Building is a multi-purpose
building and reflects an important part of the philosophy behind the new campus.
The philosophy requires that the spiritual, physical and recreational needs of the students be met
in a relatively small area retaining the atmosphere of the home.
The Center Building will house dining facilities, college administration and student offices and class
rooms. With Wait Chapel aimed at meeting student spiritual needs, the Center Building, lying just
south, will fulfill some of the more practical needs.
