Malone’s 5 and 10-cent store in the heart of the business section of Edenton. Firemen are fighting , the fire at the rear of the building, where it mysteriously started near the elevator shaft. The store was gutted and j merchandise and fixtures were a complete loss, estimated to be $30,000, not including damage to the building. Smoke ! also did considerable additional damage to merchandise in the Elliott Company clothing store, and while the Hughes- Parker Hardware Store was filled with smoke, not so much damage was done. Mr. Malone plans to make repairs j to the building and reopen the store with a full line of new merchandise and fixtures as soon as possible.—(Florian Arthur Photo). | 'ties and visiting Seattle, aboard the 'destroyer USS Floyd B.
