SECTION ONE- Reception Held For Teachers At Chowan High School Tuesday Principal Address Made By R. H. Copeland, New Principal Chowan High School PTA opened its new year Tuesday night with a re ception for the new teachers. A re ceiving line* consisted of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Copeland, the new principal and; his wife, Mrs. Margaret Roundtree| and Ralph Spainhour, was headed by ! the PTA president. Wilbur Privott and Mrs. Privott, who introduced each pa- 1 tron to the new teachers. Many were: present to extend a welcome hand to the school faculty. j Refreshments were served by the Hospitality Committee headed hy Mrs.j Cameron Boyce, who directed the re ception activities. An address by R. H. Copeland prc-j ceded the reception. Mr. Copeland ex- ! pressed his delight in having the privilege of serving as principal and of being a member, of the community. He commented favorably on the con duct of the students, the condition of buildings and the cooperation which he has received from teachers, pa trons and children. In his address. Mr. Copeland stated firmly his ideas on discipline, extra curricula partici pation, school bus safety and many! phases of child training and eduea-j tion. He urged each parent to visit] the school often and to come directly! to him to talk over problems concern-j ing the child, or the school.
