SECTION TWO—! Two Chowan 4-Hers Give Demonstration At Fair last Week Jackie Morris and Shir ley Harrell Two of 10 Invited Two Chowan teen-agers. Shirley* Harrell, Route 3, Edenton, and Jackie J Morris, Route 1, Tyner, were selected to give an eteetrical demonstration last week at the State Fair in Raleigh. 1 Jackie and Shirley, whose team demonstration of “Better Eight—Bet ter Sight” won top honors this year in the Association’s statewide 4-H Club Electric Demonstration Contest gave four complete demonstrations be tween 9:00 A. M., and 2:00 P. M., onj Saturday. The Chowan youths were among the 10 top-notch demonstrators who were invited to perform at the Association’s booth in the Industrial Building. On each day of the Fair the 4-H Club- j bers presented eight complete demon strations, ranging from hotbed con struction to the preparation of a com- 1 plete breakfast. They were housed, along with their coaches, at the Fair’s Youth Center. , Shirley, 18. is the daughter of Les ter Harrell. She’s a freshman this year at East Carolina College, ma joring in primary education. Jackie, 17, is the son of John W. Morris and is a senior at Chowan High School, j The 4-H Club Electric Demonstration Contest is sponsored annually by Tar Heel Electric Membership Association —a trade organization representing! the State’s rural electric cooperatives. The contest is open to all 4-H’ers who carry the Farm and Home Electric Project. Winning demonstrators in each 4-H District receive an expense-, paid trip to State 4-H Club Week,' where the finals are hold I Minutes Os Board Of Public Works Edenton, N. C., Sept. 7, 1954. Powell suggested that Ernest Ward, Jr., and R. N. Hines be ap pointed to this committee. There was no second to this motion.
