Light Fruit Cake i 1 cup butter or margarine I 1 cup sugar j 5 eggs | 2 cups flour ' 1!4 teaspoons baking powder I Vt teaspoon each salt, cloves, nut meg and mace 1 teaspoon cinnamon ; Vi lb. finely cut citron Vi lb. finely cut orange peel I Vi lb. candied cherries sliced 1 lb. seedless raisins 1 lb. currants 3 cups almonds or pecans sliced 1 1 cup fruit juice Cream the butter and sugar togeth- ’• er. Add one egg at a time and beat each in thoroughly. Sift 1 cup of flour with the salt and spices, then add to the creamed mixture alternate ly with the fruit juice. Wreck Mars Record In Chowan County For 1954 Fatalities First Automobile Wreck Resulting In Serious Injury The recent automobile accident at the corner of West Queen and Gran vill Streets broke Chowan County’s record of having no fatalities thus far in 1954. Not only was it the first fatality, but it was the first auto mobile accident causing serious in jury. According to Mack Rogerson, State Highway Patrolman, automobile acci dents in Chowan County thus far in 1954 are about half of what they were last year.
