Christmas Party
delightful Affair Held
Wednesday Night
In Temple
About 125 Masons and their
wives gathered in the Masonic
Temple Wednesday night of last
week to enjoy the first Christmas
party ever held by Unanimity
Lodge, No. 7, A. F., & A. M.
Ernest Kehnyee, junior warden
of the lodge, was in charge of the
party which included a sumptuous
dinner served buffet style/
After dinner the widows of Mas
ons were recognized and the group
sang a number of Christmas carols,
led by C. W. Overman and W. J.
Daniels. A feature of the singing
portion of the program was two
duets sung by C. W. Overman and
Jack Mooney. Mi's. Jack Mooney
provided organ music during the
party.
The latter part of the evening
was devoted to playing bingo with
many prizes given which were do
nated by local merchants.
The party was a decided success
and hopes expressed that it will be
an annual affair.
Vnow Qualities To
Look For When You
Buy Holiday Extras
Christmas is the season of rich,
colorful foods. But it’S also the
time of year when the homemaker
must do a little extra planning to
make her foods dollar buy those
foods she needs to complete her
special menus.
State College extension special
ists advise you to know what to
look for when you go about buying
your holiday extras.
If you're cranberry shopping,
took for fruits that have a fresh,
plump appearance, high luster, ber-
that are firm, and that have
IB bright. dark red color. A pound
fresh cranberries will yield three
cups cooked berries. A 16 ounce
can yields two cups. Specialists
recommend buying fresh berries for
Cooking or use raw in salads and
felislies. Buy canned .sauce or
xi hole berries or jellies for s.auce.

From bunches of celery weighing
l'i 'fi two pounds you will get 3‘-
servirigs per pound, cooked, and
nine servings per pound, raw. In
addition to using celery for relishes,
you might want to try it cooked— 1
buttered or creamed celery adds
zest;to soup, stews, Christmas tur
key .stuffing, and casserole dishes.
