Weekly Devotional’'j Column By JAMES MacKENZIE 1 Last week 1 discussed what it means to he filled with the Holy Spirit, and just how the it,dividual Saint may receive that filling-. To day I would like to consider with you the signs, or evidences cif a Spirit-filled life. First of all, I don't believe there is anything in Scripture to justify the view that speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit I,would not venture to .Criticize the modern tongues movement, for the Bible plainly states “Forbid not to speak in tongues,” and those who are identified with the movement are. without dispute godly, Christian people. But. it is .possible for a person to be filled, with the .Holy- Spirit without speaking in. tongues. Indeed, I Corinthians 12:10, and 12:30 seem to indicate thai the gift of tongues is definitely net for all Spirit-filled Christians, There are, however, definite in dications that a person has been 1 , filled with the Holy Spirit. The first of these is the fruit of the Spirit in his life. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,, long-suf fering, gentleness, goodness.: faith, meekness, temperance 1 ’ {Galatians 5:22-23). The presence of these qualities in a person's life is a good indication he is a Spirit-filled Christian. Another . indication of a Spirit- - filled life is power: Bower in wit- j ness in g (Acts 1:8) and power jj, I prayer (Ephesians 3:18). The person who is Spirit-filled j will have a deep love for the Lord j Jesus, for it is the office of the i Holy Spirit to increase our love [ for the Saviour. The. Spirit-filled j Christian will also have a deep love ! for others, for “The love of God is | shed abroad in our Hearts by the ' America’s Newest and Most Economical Utility Tray Handy Money Saving Invention Made of High Grade Durable Aluminum « . - —*"••; *-** SANA-TRAY is made in one size only, 13 x 18, with bottom tray inserted, 15 x 18, made to fit the average oven.
