Mr. Farmer: What Has The Farm Bureau Done For You? \ - - 1. Your Farm Bureau has opposed the importation of peanuts which would drive prices down. 2. Your Farm Bureau obtained legislation to refund the Federal Gas Tax of 2 cents per gallon on gasoline used on the farm [3 cents beginning July 1, 1956]. 3. Your Farm Bureau supported the law that gave Virginia type peanut growers an increase in allot - ments in 1956. 4. Your Farm Bureau was successful in getting the 3% Sales Tax off of Farm Machinery saving S6O to SIOO on each tractor purchased. 5. Your Farm Bureau opposed a 25% increase in Fire Insurance Rates. 6. Your Farm Bureau successfully opposed a duty [Tax] on Potash imports saving approximately $3 to $4 per ton on mixed fertilizers. 7. Your Farm Bureau helped establish and support N. C. Peanut Growers Association. 8. Your Farm Bureau supported the principle to keep peanuts as a basic commodity to retain parity price supports. 9. Your Farm Bureau opposed Tax on feed, seed, insecticide and fertilizer, saving North Carolina farm - ers $2,000,000 annually. 10. Prevented State Tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products. * 11. Developed and secured the enactment law 480 - Trade Development Act. % r 12. Has Made Automobile, Farm Liability, Fire and Life Insurance to Farmers at cost through our own North Carolina FARM BUREAU.
