Moore, Mrs. Margie Lassiter and Miss Annette Oliver returned Friday from Elizabeth ! City, where they spent a week in training for the new telephone dial i system. AT FORT CAMPBELL Pfc. Cecil Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Peterson, Route : 1, Edenton, participated in Organi zational Day activities for the new 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky., September 21. The 101st has been reorganized along concepts of modern atomic age warfare* and is now a stream- completely air-transportable j unit packed with firepower. Peterson, assigned to Company D of the division’s 187th Infantry Combat Group, entered the Army in April, 1953, and received basic training at Fort Campbell. The 20-year-old soldier attend ed Edenton High School. His wife, Helen, is now living in Clarksville, Tenn. .*M Governor Os Rotary Visits Edenton Club John H. Moore of Elizabeth City, governor of the 278th Rotary Dis trict, was guest of the Edenton Ro tary Club at its meeting Thursday. Mr. Moore was the principal speak er at the meeting and presented a word picture of his visit to the Governors’ Conference held in Lake Placid, New York in the spring of this year. . , Mr. Moore complimented the of ficers and members of the club for their interest and work in Rotary and urged the Rotarians to let their lives exemplify the Rotary idea of service above self' in their club, community, civic and religi ous activities. The speaker whs introduced by President George. Al ma Byrum. Following the meeting Governor Moore held a club assembly with officers and chairmen of the iftajor committees. The Rev. George Holmes, new rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church was a guest at the meeting. FIDELIS CLUB MEETS The Fidelis NCO Wives Club held its social meeting Tuesday, September 18th.
