Memory Selection: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” —Psalm 23:1, Lesson Text: Psalm 23. Probably the most familiar of all the Psalms, and perhaps of all the Holy Scriptures, this Shepherd Psalm is one of the most beloved, if not the most treasured of all the treasured passages in God’s Word. As Martin Luther once declared, its appeal hinges in the use of the per sonal pronouns, “I”, and “my”. Chowan County Churches ! EDENTON BAPTIST Rev. R. N. Carroll, Pastor Sunday School at 9:45 A. THE CHOWAN HERALD, EDENTON, NORTH CAROLINA. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25, 1956. Written by David, the great King of Israel, who, as a boy had cared for his father’s sheep on the lonely hills of Bethlehem, it is a beautiful word picture of the relationship which exists between a true shep-- herd and his sheep. God is pictur ed as the Shepherd and man as the sheep. Os this relationship, Mar vin R. Vincent wrote: “There is a comforting assurance in the comparison of man to a sheep.
