Biflings Speaker At Lions Meeting Football Coach Praises Work of Edenton Aces i • \> Edenton Lions heard Coach Bill Billings of Edenton High School express his confidence in the high school football team at their regu lar' meeting Monday night., Bill ings stated that he was fortunate in having a good team this year, one which had a good attitude, was responsive to training,- and one that was in good shape physically. Coach Billings reviewed some past games and plays his team had en gaged in and gave a preview of what was to come later in the sea son. On a motion from the chair the club sang “Happy Birthday” to x Tailtwister T. B. Williford, who like a well-known comedian and violinist, was celebrating his 39th birthday. The cost of this X-ray is SI.OO if the person is able to pay, otherw'ise the entire cost will be borne by the Chowan Tuberculosis and Health Association. The Work of X-raying will be continued and is expected to increase. Great Pocahontas Will Visit Edenton Continued From Page 1, Section 1 Prior to the meeting a covered dish, supper will be served for local members and special guests. Aside from Mrs. Lane, other Great Council members expected to attend the meeting include Mrs. Dorothy Blackwelder of Concord, immediate past Pocahontas; Mrs. Virgie Fisher of Kannapolis, Great Minnehaha, and Mrs. Martha Crum mey of Edenton, Great Wenona. Members of the Elizabeth City and Washington County are also ex pected to attend. An interesting program for the occasion is being planned with Mrs. Louise Pratt in charge. Mrs. Doro thy Pavlich, Pocahontas of Chowan oke Council, is very anxious to have every member present. Cancer Clinic Will Be Held November 2 The Northeastern Cancer Clinic will be held in Elizabeth City on Friday afternoon, November 2, with registration beginning at 1 F. M. A free chest X-ray will be given to anyone wishing it, alon;; with thfe examination of the five areas of the body where cancer is most easily found and cured. There are no limitations as to sex, race, physical or economic status at the center. However, women should be 35 or more; men should be 40 or over, unless referred by a doctor, or unless one of the “Seven Danger j Signals” or “symptoms” are pres-j ent. Only 30 people can be seen at the Center each month due to limit ed facilities, so it is suggested that anyone who wishes to be assured of an appointment should write the Cancer Center, Elizabeth City. N. C., for a priority. Examinees are asked to bring a robe or housecoat with them. Cub Scout Pack To Meet October 30th Cub Scout Pack 159 will hold its regular monthly Pack meeting Tuesday evening, October 30, at 7 o’clock at the Edenton Junior-Sen ior High School cafeteria. “Adventure With Puppets” is the theme for Tuesday’s meeting, which will climax 30 days of ac tivity amoryg' the dens of the pack. The Cubs have made string pup pets, shadow puppets, stick pup pets, paper bag puppets and other variations of the basic theme. Awards will be presented to Cubs who have completed advancements since the last meeting. FIDELFS CLUB MEETS The Fidelis Club held its social meeting Tuesday, October 16, with 30 women present.
